Saturna Capital is seeking a Project Manager to lead the full project management lifecycle within our financial investment firm. As an Agile organization, we operate in sprints to drive incremental improvements and deliver consistent results. This is a hands-on role responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing large cross-functional projects using a structured project management approach. The Project Manager ensures adherence to budget and scope while meeting established milestones.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Sponsor and guide Project Crew Members, enhancing collaboration and project effectiveness. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with both junior and senior team members across diverse functional areas (IT, Marketing, Finance, Portfolio Management, Transfer Agency, Employer Services, Operations, etc.) are essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, initiative, and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Location: Bellingham, WA – on site

Hiring range: $73,000-$98,000 (dependent on experience and certifications)

Primary duties include:

  • Collaborate with Project Sponsor and Project Crew Members to define project scope and objectives. 
  • Establish budget based on scope or work and resource requirements. 
  • Develop and maintain project management plan and coordinate approval process through JIRA and Confluence. 
  • Ensure milestones are consistently hit. 
  • Create and document periodic quality assurance audits. 
  • Hold post-mortem reviews to assess project successes and opportunities for future improvements.  
  • Keep the Project Sponsor current on project progress especially identifying schedule/budget concerns, financial red flags, slipping milestones, etc. 
  • Present updates to Senior Leadership Team and Board Members when appropriate. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a related field of study or equivalent work experience.  
  • Strong understanding and first-hand experience with implementing an Agile management approach for a service-oriented company; preferably within the financial services industry. 
  • Lead Scrum or Kanban meetings to help the team identify and eliminate bottlenecks. 
  • Comfort with creating Scrum or Kanban visuals.   
  • Knowledge of financial products and personal finance. 
  • PMP certification . 
  • A working knowledge of all Saturna’s product and mutual funds.  
  • MS Office and macOS experience, strong Word and Excel skills
  • Obtain FINRA SIE, 7 and 63/66 within 9 months of employment
  • Candidates must successfully complete pre-employment requirements such as a logic test, background and credit check, drug screening and reference check.

Position preferences:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to apply rules to different situations (stay consistent in decision making). 
  • Willingness to document work and relay project process to others via a project management plan. 
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and interpersonal abilities. 
  • Excellent computer skills including learning new systems quickly.  
  • Ability to work independently and is self-motivated.
