Job Summary 

The Project Manager leads the onboarding and implementation of managed services for NRTC member organizations. This role ensures project success through cross-functional collaboration, clear communication, and proactive risk management. Reporting to the Service Implementations Manager within the PMO, the Project Manager manages multiple concurrent projects requiring external coordination with broadband members and internal collaboration across diverse departments. This position directly supports member satisfaction, revenue onboarding, and the long-term scalability of NRTC’s managed services portfolio. 
 
Project Managers typically manage 8–12 concurrent implementation projects—sometimes more during peak periods. Each project requires external coordination with broadband member organizations and internal coordination across multiple departments and sometimes business units, including technical, financial, and support teams. PMs are accountable for service readiness, stakeholder alignment, and the successful launch of complex managed service solutions. This role directly supports member satisfaction, revenue onboarding, and the long-term scalability of NRTC’s managed services portfolio. 

Responsibilities  

  • Utilize standardized project management processes, templates, and tools to ensure structured execution and track project progress

  • Lead project work with internal teams, maintaining an engaged, collaborative, and motivating approach

  • Collaborate with Members to meet milestones and deadlines, reflecting NRTC’s member-driven values

  • Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks proactively

  • Manage communications and reporting for diverse stakeholders, including project teams, PMO, internal departments, and Members

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and updating project management templates and practices

  • Research and apply industry best practices to enhance project delivery

  • Track deliverables, prevent scope creep, and maintain schedule and budget compliance

  • Coordinate cross-functionally to align complex implementation timelines

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer post-launch and document lessons learned

  • Support change management by identifying adoption barriers and facilitating training and communication

  • Define and track KPIs to measure project success and member satisfaction

  • Balance member expectations, technical feasibility, and organizational priorities with sound judgment

  • Provide mentorship to peers

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

  • Strong command of project management frameworks (e.g., PMBOK) applied to real-world projects

  • Proven success managing multi-phase, externally facing technical projects under critical timelines 

  • Positive, professional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders

  • Collaborative leadership style that motivates teams to meet aggressive goals 

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Member-first mindset aligned with cooperative principles

  • Quick adaptability to evolving tools and project management technologies

  • Experience in rural broadband, telecom, or member-owned organizations

  • Commitment to continuous improvement through applying emerging best practices

Minimum Education and Experience  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in project management, business, IT, or related field 

  • 3–5 years managing technical projects in service delivery or telecom environments

  • PMP certification or equivalent

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Physical Demands 

  • Work is typically performed in a remote office setting

  • Occasionally travel may be required (up to 10%)
