The Company
Our client is a well-capitalized, PE-backed independent power producer specializing in the development, construction, and operation of utility-scale renewable energy and energy storage projects. With a rapidly growing portfolio and a mission-driven leadership team, they are focused on executing clean energy projects that deliver long-term value to communities and investors.
The Role
This is a high-impact role leading project execution for utility-scale battery energy storage and renewable energy projects. The Project Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of construction, with a strong emphasis on contractor management, technical coordination, and financial execution. This position requires close collaboration with internal teams across engineering, finance, and legal, and provides visibility to executive leadership and investment partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day management of EPC and BESS suppliers during project execution.
- Oversee all phases of projects, from engineering through construction completion.
- Interface with finance to support due diligence for debt and tax equity financing.
- Deliver detailed updates on project budgets, schedules, and milestones.
- Own and drive the project schedule, must be able to build, manage, and update construction schedules using standard tools.
- Identify and resolve interface and design issues by coordinating across internal and third-party teams.
- Drive execution performance against schedule and financial targets.
- Monitor field operations to ensure adherence to safety protocols and ESG standards.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, industry practices, and regulatory requirements.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or Construction Management.
- 5+ years of experience managing large engineering or construction projects.
- Background in Project engineering at an EPC is .
- Must have direct experience with project scheduling, hands-on responsibility for building and managing construction schedules.
- Background in energy is but not required; candidates with infrastructure, oil & gas, or other large-scale technical project experience are encouraged to apply.
- Experience at an EPC or engineering firm is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong grasp of power plant systems, utility interconnections, or substation design.
- Effective at managing contractors, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues and optimize construction outcomes.
- High proficiency in project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and schedule management best practices.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental compliance on job sites.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
