Project Manager
Job Description
Reporting to the Project Liaison Team Leader you will be responsible for the effective management of a portfolio of highway and civil engineering projects. The Team currently has a healthy pipeline of projects with individual values of up to £5 million. These cover a range of programmes including cycle improvements schemes, junction improvements and public realm enhancements. You will be responsible for managing a project from feasibility through to delivery on site.
The Role
- Develop and administer allotted projects and programmes including managing the use of external consultants where appropriate.
- Ensure strong budgetary control, financial management and programme control is undertaken and represent the service at client meetings.
- Manage multi-disciplined teams from across the organisation to deliver project objectives for the sponsor/client.
- Identify and manage risks before they impact project delivery.
- Drive early construction initiatives to deliver a construction project at the right time of the year, constantly striving to get ahead of the Programme to allow schemes to be programmed correctly.
- Produce project plans ensuring that all Stakeholders are adequately consulted.
- Ensure governance is followed appropriately and change control is administered effectively
About You
- Recognised project management qualification e.g. APM PMQ or PRINCE2 is essential
- Experience in managing multiple projects is essential
- Experience in using Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel is essential
- Knowledge and application of budgetary management and control measures is essential
- Experience working with NEC3 form of contract, particularly options C and E is desirable
- Membership or working towards membership of a relevant Professional Institution e.g. APM is desirable
