Construction Estimator – Interior General Contractor

About the Role
We are an established Interior General Contractor seeking a Construction Estimator to join our team and support current and anticipated new business. In this role, you’ll be a key player in preconstruction efforts, working closely with design teams, subcontractors, and operations staff to deliver accurate, strategic, and competitive estimates.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and analysis for assigned scopes of work.
- Perform constructability reviews, identifying design issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct value engineering to propose cost-efficient alternatives to design scopes.
- Liaise with subcontractors, architects, engineers, and consultants to clarify scope and pricing.
- Prepare and assemble bids and proposals for various contract types (lump sum, GMP, cost-plus, etc.).
- Analyze contract documents, drawings, specifications, and site conditions to ensure comprehensive scope coverage.
- Create and manage RFIs; attend scope reconciliation meetings to eliminate gaps or overlaps.
- Review subcontractor proposals, confirm coverage of scope, and manage risk of gaps.
- Collaborate with operations staff and estimators to ensure general conditions and requirements are accounted for in estimates.
- Support preconstruction efforts for new projects or business opportunities.
- Supervise Assistant Estimators and Interns, including performance feedback and mentoring.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related construction estimating experience (or equivalent combination of education/training/experience).
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, installation procedures, and trade practices.
- Ability to read and interpret contracts, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
- Understanding of accounting, estimating, purchasing, and engineering principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with estimating software a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
