Project Engineer



An opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects within a major long-term alliance. The role covers the full design lifecycle — from feasibility through to construction support and technical handover — ensuring all work meets client, statutory and NEC contract requirements.



Key Responsibilities



Lead and coordinate design activities from concept through to construction issue, including reports, drawings and specifications.



Interpret client requirements, complete root-cause analysis and develop practical design solutions.



Work with planning teams to develop and review programme schedules.



Act as the main interface between clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal delivery teams.



Provide technical support during construction, managing RFIs, technical queries and constructability reviews.



Ensure compliance with CDM duties, health and safety requirements, and internal quality standards.



Maintain project documentation, registers and design logs.



Support junior engineers and contribute to collaborative team delivery.



About You



Essential:



Degree/HNC/HND in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or ICA Engineering (or equivalent experience).



Experience in utilities projects, ideally water/wastewater.



Strong design coordination and technical problem-solving skills.



Good communication and stakeholder management abilities.



Knowledge of relevant H&S legislation and design compliance.



Desirable:



Familiarity with WIMES, NEC contracts, BIM, and project/programme management.



SMSTS/NEBOSH, PRINCE2 or similar qualifications.



Relevant CSCS card
