Project Engineer - Water

Location: London  

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum + benefits

This role offers the opportunity to support the delivery of complex water and wastewater treatment schemes across the region, working closely with project, construction, and design teams on projects of significant scale and impact.

What you'll be doing

 

·Supporting the Project Manager in coordinating plant design, engineering, and procurement activities.

·Ensuring information is delivered on time to support construction, commissioning, and project handover.

·Monitoring and controlling project costs to ensure they remain within tender or agreed variations.

·Preparing and submitting applications for payment on time.

·Contributing to contract reviews, monthly forecasting, and reporting.

·Building and maintaining strong relationships with Thames Water representatives and wider stakeholders.

·Assisting with developing and maintaining project management strategies and delivery plans.

·Supporting the production of contract programmes and progress reports.

·Providing information for O&M manual production and project close-out documentation.

·Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams on design, procurement, and technical issues.

·Monitoring subcontractor performance and compliance.

·Ensuring all documentation, filing systems, and governance requirements are maintained.

·Evaluating innovative solutions and supporting safe, efficient design development.

·Addressing risk and opportunity actions monthly.

·Ensuring designs and solutions are safe to construct, commission, and operate.

·Supporting the capitalisation process and handover documentation.

·Maintaining a positive, collaborative approach and representing the contractor professionally at all times.

·Taking responsibility for your own ongoing CPD, keeping up to date with industry innovation and standards.

 

What you'll bring

 

Experience



·Background in Electrical or Mechanical engineering (essential).

·Experience delivering engineering solutions within water or wastewater treatment projects.

·Understanding of NEC contracts and contract management processes.

·Experience with supply chain coordination and expediting.

·Knowledge of CDM, site safety, and construction practices.

Qualifications

 

·HNC or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline (minimum).

·Professional qualifications (IEng / CEng / membership of relevant bodies) are advantageous but not essential.
