We are a 100% employee-owned, family-run heavy civil construction company that self-performs underground utility installation, earthwork, and concrete work. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Project Engineer to support project operations from pre-construction through closeout.
Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Mesa, AZ
Pay: Starting $65,000 - DOE + Full Benefits Package (Based on Experience)
Key Responsibilities
Contract Administration
- Route contracts for internal and external signatures
- Organize and file fully executed contracts in project job files
Bonds
- Procure Payment and Performance Bonds as required by project specifications
Plans Management
- Distribute updated plan sets to Superintendents and subcontractors
- Ensure accurate plan versions are used in the field
Document Control & Submittals
- Prepare submittal transmittal packages and maintain logs
- Track returned/approved submittals and keep organized records
Subcontracts & Purchase Orders
- Assist in reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotes for scope and quantity accuracy
- Maintain updated contact lists for internal teams, subcontractors, and owners
Field Coordination
- Conduct jobsite visits to verify subcontractor quantities and monitor progress
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in ensuring timely project delivery

- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- 1–23 years of hands-on experience in heavy civil construction, specifically underground utilities and/or earthwork required
- Demonstrated constructability experience, including the ability to review plans/specs and identify potential field or coordination issues
- Engineer-in-Training (FE) certification required or ability to obtain; Professional Engineer (PE) license , ideally with experience relevant to heavy civil, underground utilities, or earthwork scopes
- Strong understanding of project plans, specifications, and construction processes in a field-driven environment
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction setting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with construction management software is a plus
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to grow within a team-oriented, employee-owned company
Travel between project sites throughout the Greater Phoenix Metro area may be required.
