Position Summary

Frontline General Engineering Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly organized Project Engineer with a strong work ethic and proven experience managing multiple public works and civil construction projects. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of Project Engineer experience and the ability to independently manage 4–6 projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and/or Central Valley.

The Senior Project Engineer works closely with Owners, Project Managers, Superintendents, Assistant Project Engineers, Estimators, Subcontractors, Clients, Engineers, Architects, and Consultants to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role is responsible for overseeing project documentation, contract administration, cost tracking, scheduling support, procurement coordination, and project closeout while serving as a key liaison between the office and field teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Independently manage 4–6 construction projects simultaneously.
  • Maintain and update Schedule of Values (SOV) for monthly progress billing.
  • Track project budgets, costs, productivity, and profitability throughout each project.
  • Prepare, submit, and track all Submittals, RFIs, Change Orders, and other contract documentation.
  • Coordinate project turnover with the Estimating Department to ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to operations.
  • Attend weekly Project Management meetings and provide project status updates.
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, identify issues, and support field operations.
  • Work closely with Superintendents and Foremen to coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Order and coordinate project materials while ensuring timely deliveries.
  • Review project costs with field staff to maintain budget compliance and maximize profitability.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical project files, including all correspondence and project documentation.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Submit accurate weekly jobsite reports without exception.
  • Assist Project Managers with scheduling, procurement, contract administration, and project forecasting.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, warranties, as-built drawings, and final documentation.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with owners, inspectors, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Mentor Assistant Project Engineers and provide guidance on company procedures and project documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field .
  • Minimum of 5 years of Project Engineer experience in commercial, heavy civil, or public works construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple active projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, specifications, plans, scheduling, and project documentation.
  • Experience preparing and managing RFIs, Submittals, Change Orders, Progress Billings, and project closeout documents.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience coordinating with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with construction management software is (Procore, Bluebeam, Sage, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload while managing multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.

Required Certifications

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (required or ability to obtain before employment).
  • First Aid/CPR Certification ( or ability to obtain).
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel frequently to multiple project sites throughout the Bay Area and Central Valley.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, crouch, balance, reach above shoulder level, and use hands to operate equipment and tools.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.
  • Must possess close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
