Job Description
Project Engineer - (Must Be Eligible for UK SC Clearance) Defence electronics | Gateshead (on-site)\n\n£40,000-£50,000 \nThis role sits within a UK defence engineering team delivering electronics-led systems to MOD and international customers. You'll join an established team and report directly to the Defence lead.\n\nWhat you'll work on\n\nYou'll support defence programmes across three technical areas:\n\nCommunications Information Systems (CIS)\n\nFighting Vehicles (electronics and mechanical systems)\n\nElectronic Warfare (RF and electronics-focused)\nTypical work includes:\n\nEngineering support across ILS and in-service projects\n\nReviewing technical documentation and reporting findings\n\nSupporting engineering change\n\nWorking with engineers, compliance, and defence customers\n\nBackground that fits\n\nEssential\n\nElectronics, electrical, systems, or communications engineering background\n\nLevel 6 Qualification in Engineering related discipline\n\nExperience delivering engineering products or technical services\n\nEligible for UK SC clearance\nBeneficial\n\nDefence or security sector experience\n\nTransferable backgrounds considered: Oil & Gas, Rail\n\nExposure to ILS or engineering change\n\nProfessional registration (e.g. CEng, MIET).\n\nLocation & working pattern\n\nGateshead (Team Valley)\n\nOn-site role with some flexibility at manager discretion\n\nOffice and customer sites - not remote or hybrid by default\n\n37.5 hours/week, flexitime available\n\nSalary & benefits\n\n£40,000-£50,000 base salary\n\nSalary sacrifice pension\n\nCycle to work scheme\n\nAnnual leave increasing with length of service\n\nFlexitime\n\nInterview process\n\nStage 1: Interview with Defence lead and engineer\n\nStage 2: On-site interview in Gateshead, including review of a technical body of work\nInterviews available immediately
