Job Summary:
Evaluate, design, estimate, and provide project management of Electric Substation facilities for new business, public improvement, and maintenance of company facilities according to Company standards and other applicable guidelines and codes. Provide technical assistance/support to operations and assist in emergency restoration, (i.e., storm damage, damaged facilities, etc.). These services support new customer growth, the need for facility changes/improvements, and maintenance of Company equipment to insure reliable service.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design/manage gas utility projects, utilizing effective techniques for planning, engineering, scheduling and tracking. The scope of these projects to include distribution and transmission projects covering new business, road and public facility relocations, maintenance, and retail projects.
- Prepare/complete complex detailed drawings, permits, easements, contracts, other miscellaneous documents, and complete milestones in computerized systems, (CIS, MGMM, etc.), for the design of electric and gas projects.
- Meet customers in a timely manner to analyze and determine energy requirements. Manage customer requirements through the initial needs through to the final delivery of needed electric and gas utilities. Assist in the coordination of fieldwork on projects; provide engineering direction, and synchronization with outside agencies and/or customer representatives.
- Insure that engineering designs comply with Alliance policies and procedures, and state and federal regulatory codes which include NEC, NESC, NFPA 54, DOT, AGA, and other local and standards as they apply.
- Provide engineering solutions that effectively meet the needs of the customer and Company while still adhering to the financial goals of the Company. Provide support for the preparation of the capital budget, and maintain projects within budgetary constraints.
- Assist other departments with technical expertise to help solve operational problems. Provide cost effective solutions and follow through to resolve needs.
- Travel on a daily basis, work a flexible schedule, including overtime, as needed to meet engineering and emergency needs, and under predetermined circumstances.
