Project Engineer (Electrical) – Design & Build Contractor – 6-Month Contract – Outside IR35

Our client is a leading design and build contractor delivering complex engineering and construction projects. They are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with an electrical bias to join on an initial 6-month contract, Outside IR35. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Engineer to support major industrial and process-driven construction works.

Role Overview

As a Project Engineer (Electrical bias), you will play a key role in delivering on-site installation, coordination and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with design standards, safety and programme requirements. The Project Engineer will work closely with subcontractors, suppliers and the wider project team to drive successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily site activities to ensure safe and efficient delivery

• Interpret technical drawings and specifications to guide installation and construction works

• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to meet project milestones

• Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with design, standards and regulations

• Prepare and maintain accurate site documentation including progress reports, RAMS and site records

• Support testing, commissioning and client handover activities

• Identify, troubleshoot and escalate technical issues where required

• Promote a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement

Candidate Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related Engineering discipline

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Site Engineer within construction, water, utilities, industrial or process environments

• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies and Health & Safety regulations

• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Project and relevant engineering software

• Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills

• CSCS card required; First Aid, SMSTS or SSSTS desirable
