Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
Registrations / Certifications
- Registration with the UAE Society of Engineers, or eligibility for registration.
- Relevant local authority approval, or eligibility to apply.
- Knowledge of BS, IEC, NFPA, and other relevant international standards.
Experience
- 10 to 12 years of experience in electrical engineering and site execution for high rise (above 40 storey) commercial, residential, and hospitality buildings.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in the UAE. Experience in major developer projects is preferred.
- Proven experience in design review, execution, testing, and commissioning of LV and ELV systems in accordance with local authority regulations.
Computer Software Proficiency
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Familiar with project planning software such as MS Project or Primavera (P6).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate design drawings, technical specifications, and BOQs to ensure compliance with project requirements and local authority regulations.
- Supervise and monitor the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and ELV systems such as LV panels, SMDBs, DBs, lighting, power, fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and structured cabling systems.
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, and other engineering disciplines to resolve design and technical issues during execution.
- Lead and guide site engineers, supervisors, and electricians to ensure adherence to quality, safety, and project schedules.
- Prepare electrical material submittals, method statements, and inspection and test plans (ITPs).
- Review shop drawings and builders work drawings and coordinate with civil and mechanical teams to avoid site conflicts.
- Ensure proper implementation of QA/QC procedures, method statements, and inspection test plans at all stages of the project.
- Coordinate with local authorities for inspection, testing, and system approvals.
- Conduct site inspections to verify installation quality, workmanship, and compliance with design and specifications.
- Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical systems and ensure documentation of test results, reports, and certifications.
- Monitor project progress, manpower allocation, and resource utilization to meet project deadlines.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports, highlighting progress, material status, and technical constraints.
- Support project management in technical evaluation of variations, change requests, and subcontractor submissions.
- Ensure proper coordination with procurement for long lead items, materials, and equipment deliveries.
- Lead preparation of handing over documents, including as built drawings, O&M manuals, and final handover documents.
- Enforce compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies at site and promote safe working practices.
- Identify value engineering and cost saving opportunities.
- Report to the Project Manager or MEP Manager regarding project status, key issues, and engineering deliverables.
