Engineering Project Manager / Project Engineer - Power Division\n\nLocation: Potters Bar (Hybrid Working)\nSalary: £65,000 - £75,000 + Company Car + 10% Bonus + Private Medical\n\nDeliver Critical Power Infrastructure Projects Across the UK\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager / Project Engineer to join a growing Power Division delivering major electricity infrastructure projects that support the UK's transition to a more sustainable and resilient energy network.\n\nThis is an opportunity to take ownership of the engineering delivery of complex HV cable route projects, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions for some of the most challenging infrastructure environments in the UK.\n\nYou'll play a pivotal role in bridging engineering design and project delivery, ensuring technical solutions are safe, buildable, commercially viable and compliant from concept through to construction.\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nAs part of the Power Division, you will lead the engineering and technical coordination of cable route projects involving:\n\nHigh Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) infrastructure\nGrid connections and network reinforcement schemes\nUnderground cable routes\nTrenchless installation solutions\nMajor crossings involving highways, railways, rivers and other critical infrastructure\nComplex stakeholder and statutory approval processesWorking closely with design, construction and commercial teams, you will assess route constraints, develop crossing methodologies and drive engineering solutions that enable successful project delivery.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead engineering activities across power infrastructure projects from pre-construction through to delivery.\nDevelop and review engineering solutions for complex cable route crossings and constrained environments.\nManage feasibility studies, optioneering exercises and technical assessments.\nCoordinate multidisciplinary design teams and review engineering outputs before formal approvals.\nEnsure compliance with relevant engineering standards, client specifications and regulatory requirements.\nMonitor programme, cost and resource requirements throughout the project lifecycle.\nProvide technical leadership and support to project teams and delivery partners.\nIdentify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.\nProduce clear technical reports and project updates for clients and senior stakeholders.\nManage relationships with statutory authorities, asset owners and utility stakeholders.\n\nAbout You\n\nYou will have a strong background in civil engineering, power infrastructure, utilities or major infrastructure projects and be comfortable managing complex engineering challenges from concept through to construction.\n\nWe are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:\n\nPower transmission, distribution or utility infrastructure projects.\nCable route engineering and underground cable installations.\nHorizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), trenchless technologies, tunnelling or specialist crossing methodologies.\nEngineering solutions involving rail, highways, waterways, bridges and buried assets.\nManaging design consultants and multidisciplinary engineering teams.\nStakeholder engagement with infrastructure owners and regulatory bodies.\nTechnical project management within highly regulated environments.\n\nDesired Knowledge & Experience\n\nUnderstanding of DNO and IDNO standards.\nExperience working with organisations such as Highways, Network Rail, Transport for London, Canal & River Trust and the Environment Agency.\nKnowledge of structural, geotechnical and environmental engineering principles.\nExperience supporting major power transmission or grid connection projects.\n\nWhat You'll Bring\n\nStrong technical and commercial judgement.\nExcellent stakeholder management and communication skills.\nA proactive approach to problem solving and risk management.\nThe ability to balance engineering excellence with practical delivery requirements.\nStrong leadership capabilities and a collaborative working style.\n\nPackage\n\n£65,000 - £75,000 basic salary\nCompany Car\n10% Annual Bonus\nPrivate Medical Insurance\nHybrid Working\nOngoing Career Development\nOpportunity to work on nationally significant energy infrastructure projectsThis is an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Project Manager or Project Engineer looking to take a leading role in delivering critical power infrastructure projects that will help shape the future of the UK's energy network
