Job DescriptionJob Description
The Project Engineer will lead the planning, design, review, ad construction of water infrastructure projects for the District. This role will ensure delivery of potable water system improvements, coordinate with development activity, and manage the District's construction technicians. The ideal candidate holds a Texas Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, has strong water system and infrastructure experience, and is comfortable in a fast-growing utility environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the execution of multiple projects including but not limited to subdivision construction, building construction, production and distribution projects.
- Provide oversite to contractors/subcontractors to ensure company policies and procedures are maintained throughout the project duration to ensure safety, schedule and quality are maintained.
- Ensure that all construction projects are completed as per design and District's specifications.
- Develop a detailed project monitoring process to monitor and track progress of ongoing projects.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Ensue that detail records of project and other work are maintained in an approved record management system that tracks all work carried out. Ensure that electronic infrastructure databases are maintained with current data.
- Review subdivision plat, preliminary plat, and construction documents to ensure compliance with District and all applicable regulatory standards. Includes coordination with engineers, developers, other utilities, the counties, cities, and contractors, regarding the subdivision process. Inspect to ensure that subdivision projects meet the requirements of construction plans.
Education and Work Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering field.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience in water infrastructure or public works.
- Experience in project management of water distribution systems and treatment facility projects.
- Experience reviewing design/construction plans for compliance with utility and regulatory standards.
- Knowledge of civil water system design, hydraulics, and potable water infrastructure.
- Familiarity with development plan review and contractor/consultant management.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.

- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience with bidding/contracting public works projects and contract administration
- Proficiency with GIS, hydraulic modeling and asset management tools.
