TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

The responsibilities and duties of the Project Engineer include, but are not limited to, the following:


Document Control & Coordination:

  • Maintain and update contract document logs, ensuring accurate posting and distribution of documents.
  • Track and manage RFIs, bulletins, ASIs, and sketch logs to ensure timely responses and resolution.
  • Maintain accurate contract drawings and specification revisions to reflect current project conditions.
  • Assist in issuing bid documents and drafting comprehensive scopes of work for bid packages and scope reviews.

Project Reporting & Communication:

  • Assist in preparing monthly reports detailing project progress, financials, and upcoming milestones.
  • Prepare and present status reports for submittals, RFIs, bulletins, and RFQs to ensure clear communication among stakeholders.
  • Maintain and track submittal logs, supporting the processing of submittals, including product data and sample reviews.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes and action items to ensure alignment across project teams.

Project Financials:

  • Assist with the preparation and review of monthly pay applications and tracking project financials to ensure budget adherence.
  • Support the management of change orders and ensure timely documentation of changes affecting project costs.

Quality Assurance & Field Support:

  • Assist with project closeout procedures, including documentation, final inspections, and punch list management.
  • Participate in rolling completion list inspections using BIM 360 Field or Procore, ensuring quality control and compliance with project specifications.
  • Support site personnel with technical information and document coordination to ensure smooth workflow.

Technology Utilization:

  • Utilize construction management software such as Procore and Bluebeam to track and manage project documentation and collaboration.
  • Leverage technology to improve workflow efficiency and support digital project management efforts.


Requirements:

REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:


Minimum Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree (Required): Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Related fields in construction or engineering disciplines.


Education:

Master’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on project management (a plus but not required).


Additional Educational Considerations:

  • Candidates with a related associate degree and significant field experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, depending on the company’s requirements.
  • Relevant coursework in: Construction materials and methods, Project management principles, Construction estimating and scheduling, Building codes and safety regulations, Structural analysis and design, Sustainable building practices (LEED certification knowledge is a plus)

Certifications ( but Not Required):

  • OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (for engineering graduates)
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • LEED Green Associate or AP certification (for sustainability-focused projects)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)


REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • 1-3 years of experience in construction project coordination or engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of construction documents, contracts, and processes.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, CMiC, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and construction site protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Combination of office and field environments with occasional visits to job sites.
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs and navigate construction sites safely.
