Job Title: Project Engineer
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Summary of Job:
This is an engineering-track position, responsible for: leading a team in the design of buildings, including performing engineering design for components and connections, 3D finite element modeling of components, 3D modeling of structures; performing document preparation in both CAD and BIM environments; and managing project and project team to successful completion.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in architectural, Civil, or Structural Engineering, Masters , or equivalent work- and industry-related experience (as allowed under licensure by the state of Illinois).
- Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) in state of Illinois
- 7+ years of diverse project experience in the design of buildings with demonstrated professional growth
- Experience in precast prestressed concrete design
Key Responsibilities:
- Interface with internal and external clients
- Define tasks (both engineering and documents) required to analyze/design precast components and connections on multiple simple building projects, with minimal direction from senior engineering staff
- Work on assigned tasks and projects with minimal supervision, performing structural analysis and design of precast components and connections, as well as preparing detailed documentation in CAD and BIM formats.
- Perform 3D finite element analysis and design
- Proactively identify concerns regarding structural issues and project scope
- Meet task and project deadlines, and adhere to budgeted hours
- Manage other staff members when assigned as a Task or Project Leader
- Actively engage in professional development activities to enhance engineering competencies and stay up to date on code changes
- Participate in the development of in-house design templates, checklist and standards
- Assist the VP of Engineering with reviewing and approving consultant billings, and with allocating staff resources to meet project demands, schedules, and utilization targets.
- Coach and mentor junior staff
Requirements:
- Work effectively within a team environment with a group of diverse professionals

- Ability to visit job sites in all weather conditions
- Possess an advanced understanding of precast production and erection processes, including casting and bed rules, plant and bed scheduling, and temporary bracing requirements.

Experienced With:
- Structural analysis/design fundamentals
- 3D finite element analysis
- Diaphragm analysis and design
- Snow, seismic and wind analysis and design
- Structural integrity requirements
- Current building and material codes
- Commercially-available office software (Word, Excel, Adobe/Bluebeam, etc.)
- 3D modeling and drafting software such AutoCAD, Revit and Tekla or equivalent
- Engineering software such as RAM suite, Risa, TEDDS, LEC Wall, etc. or equivalent;
