Job Title: Project Engineer – Fire Protection
Location: London (Site-Based)
Salary: £55,000 + Package
We are working with a specialist fire protection contractor who are seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of active fire protection projects across London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business working on high-profile installations of Gas Suppression, Sprinkler Systems, or Fire Alarm upgrades, depending on your expertise.
Role Overview:
You’ll be responsible for managing the technical and operational aspects of fire protection projects from inception through to completion, ensuring works are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. This role involves close collaboration with internal teams, site management, and client stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed project budgets and manage procurement of materials, labour, plant, and subcontractors
- Oversee on-site operations, ensuring productivity, quality, and adherence to project schedules
- Manage subcontractor payments, cost reporting, and final accounts
- Coordinate with head office on invoicing, procurement, and reporting
- Track and report project costs against budgets, ensuring financial control
- Provide technical support and input across project design, installation, and commissioning phases
- Develop strong relationships with clients and act as the company’s on-site representative
- Monitor industry developments and competitor activity in the fire protection sector
- Maintain up-to-date project documentation and compliance with safety standards
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing or engineering fire protection projects (Gas Suppression, Sprinklers, Fire Alarms)
- Strong knowledge of BS5389 and BS6266 standards
- Experience with budget management, cost control, and subcontractor coordination
- High proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting and documentation
- Strong organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication abilities and a client-focused approach
