Project Engineer
Job Description
The Project Engineer plays a key role in overseeing activities at construction job sites, ensuring that construction progresses according to schedule and in compliance with contract specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily construction activities and coordinate material deliveries with contractors
- Interpret drawings and designs to support material installation
- Identify and resolve issues related to drawing interpretations, conflicts, and errors
- Prepare field design change requisitions and maintain accurate “as-built” drawings
- Generate and manage documentation such as status reports and punch lists
- Ensure all completed work meets applicable codes, drawings, and specifications
- Participate in coordination meetings with contractors, clients, and design teams
- Develop closeout documentation checklists per project specifications
- Align quality control activities with the construction schedule
- Support the Contracts Manager in identifying scope gaps
- Research and recommend solutions for quality control issues
- Create and manage RFIs, including proposing and administering solutions
- Maintain job-specific logs, such as the concrete log, and oversee updates
- Coordinate MEP startup, commissioning meetings, and system installations
- Plan construction sequencing and site logistics through scheduling and drawings
- Adhere to and promote company safety policies and procedures
- Coordinate updates to mock-ups, shop drawings, and specifications
- Manage quantity take-offs and related pricing or budget responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a procurement log to align with the project schedule
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial construction experience
- Experience working with a General Contractor on a project exceeding $50 million
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Procore
- Skilled in blueprint reading, construction scheduling, and CAD
- Prior experience as a Field Engineer or Project Engineer on commercial projects is
