POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary role of the Project Engineer is to assist the Sr. Project Manager or Project Manager by overseeing the day-to-day tasks to ensure that the project is executed on time, on budget, and at the appropriate margins. The Project Engineer also independently manages smaller projects, acting as the liaison between the client and CREO. The position monitors all phases of the project to ensure the accurate execution of the specifications, details and obligations of the contract are met. The position must also track and prioritize tasks to keep multiple projects moving through the documentation, production and installation process on schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Using project kick off documents, develop project schedule with critical path.
- Manage and maintain budget for the project, estimate at completion (EAC), and monthly billing projections.
- Manage and maintain project schedule, communicating with project lead or client as needed.
- Meet with Documentation to review scope and schedule for design and document development.
- Research fabrication options, subcontractors, creation of submittal samples, mock-ups and prototypes.
- Perform site surveys and obtain field verification data.
- Prepare RFIs and report the responses to be incorporated into the final shop drawings.
- Prepare transmittals for submittal samples, patterns and drawings.
- Prepare permit documents, submit for permits, coordinate inspections and archive original signed off documents.
- Contract and coordinate subcontractor services.
- Manage change order process.
- Prepare monthly billing documents (schedule of value, lien waivers, payment applications, etc.)
- Schedule handoff with Production team to review project scope and schedule.
- Monitor production progress.
- Perform QA/QC inspection of production work at 60% completion and prior to shipping (minimum); includes work that has been subcontracted and received back.
- Coordinate shipping of final product.
- Coordinate onsite-installation with Field Supervisors.
- Manage short term installations when a Field Supervisor is not required.
- Manage punchlist to completion, including field verification if needed.
- Generate and maintain detailed records of all drawings (done by others), client communication, contract documents, permits, and all other project documentation.
- Prepare Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Documents
- Prepare project summary at conclusion of project.
- Other Duties as directed by the Senior Project Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Detail oriented individual with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Reasonable level of competence with office productivity software (MS Word, Excel, Project) and familiarity with internet tools for searches etc.
- Ability to conduct thorough research to identify optimal materials, subcontractor services, processes, etc.
- Willingness to travel on short-term installations when necessary.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
