ROLE: Project Engineer


REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager


LOCATION: BC Manufacturing Facilities


We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our Team! Our Project Engineer is responsible is responsible for the management and execution of capital (CAPEX) projects at our BC manufacturing facilities, ensuring alignment with Quality, Environment, and Health & Safety (EHS) objectives. This role leads cross-functional teams through all phases of project management to deliver projects that meet operational, regulatory, and stakeholder requirements.

Knowledge & Skills

  • You are proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD (or similar), and project scheduling tools.
  • You are proficient at reading technical drawings including layout drawings, electrical schematics and P&ID’s
  • You have familiarity with WorkSafeBC regulations, environmental compliance, and quality standards in manufacturing.
  • You have a solid understanding of risk assessment, contractor safety, and change management
  • You have excellent analytical skills
  • You have great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

Experience

  • You have at least 5 years or relevant experience working in project management and engineering
  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably, mechanical, electrical or industrial)
  • You are registered or eligible to register with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)


Nice-to-Have

  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation from Project Management Institute (PMI)
  • Experience working under GFSI schemes, HACCP, or other food safety/quality programs.


things you will do…

  • Develop project requirements and objectives in a multi-departmental project team
  • Track and document project progress to ensure deliverables are aligned with established project requirements and objectives
  • Collaborate with EHS to ensure safety and environmental compliance during all project phases.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to align equipment and process changes with food safety and quality expectations.
  • Liaise with operations, maintenance, and technical stakeholders to define and document project requirements.
  • Liaison between internal project stakeholders and external consultants and contractors
  • Manage on-site activities of contractors to monitor accuracy of project work while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements
  • Track, manager and report on project scope, budget, timelines, risks and change controls to the Engineering Manager and other project stakeholders
  • Ensure timely project close-out, including validation, documentation, and transition to plant operations.


OTHER …

  • You might need to work occasional evening or weekend work as required for project commissioning or emergency response
  • You will need a valid driver’s license
  • Manage contractor activities including verification of contractor qualifications such as trade licenses, compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements as well as validation of quality of work
  • Ensure modifications and updates to drawing layouts, schematics and P&ID’s following the completion of project work as required
