Bachelors Degree inMechanical Engineering or similar Engineering field. Open to technical degreeif they have contractor experience.
3+ years of experience in anindustrial manufacturing environment
Practical experience andknowledge of piping system design and its application in an industrialcontinuous process manufacturing environment
Ability to read all types ofengineering drawings
Understanding or experience insizing, specifying, purchasing, and installing various pumps, fans,compressors, burners and related pipe and ductwork
Understanding or experience withmaterial handling, packaging equipment, continuous web and pollution controlsystems
candidate may haveoperational site and project execution experience

Responsibilities:
Mechanical Project EngineerOxford, NC
GENERAL FUNCTION
The incumbent will manage thedevelopment and safe implementation of equipment and installation (packages)within capital projects for the CertainTeed Roofing manufacturing plantsincluding process design development, procurement, installation, andcommissioning.
The Project Engineer IIreports to the Sr Project Engineering Manager and works for the ProjectManagers within the Project Management Office (PMO) in the assigned project,meeting or exceeding their expectations in terms of Scope, Cost, Schedule, andcommunication.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the evaluation anddevelopment of assigned capital packages related to design, capital requests,procurement (including, scope of works documents, contracts and change orders),budget, schedule, installation and commissioning.
Develop initial designs andlayouts for the assigned packages and then expand them into detailed plans anddrawings.
Support senior projectengineers on assigned projects led by Roofing TIP or led by the Roofing plantteams to deliver installations safely, on time and on budget.
Support the Technical Officein the development of designs and processes to deliver the best performance andlowest cost giving due regard to safety, operations, maintenance, and legalcompliance.
Analyze project requirementsand perform technical calculations supporting design.
Support continuous improvementof process plant design in collaboration with the Operational Excellence Teamand the Technical Office.
Assist in the startup andcommissioning of equipment and other mechanical systems onsite.
Ensure the efficient transferof projects to the Operations team, including all documentation, trainingsupport, spare parts packages, preventive maintenance manuals, troubleshootingguides, etc.
Maintain, and communicateproject status to meet company goals.
Participate in the designphase of the projects providing input to the process.
Follows the Project ExecutionManual Check Lists (Stage gate process) applying the standard tools at eachstep of the project (risk register, change register, etc).
Maintain fluid communicationand collaboration with other members of Roofing (TIP), Project ManagementOffice (PMO), Technical Office, OPEX Team, Loss Prevention Team, and othercorporate teams such as Operations, Quality, R&D or Safety during the projectslife cycle.
Comments/Special Instructions
Roofing at Oxford, NC is agreenfield operation.
I would view these roles as aPE II role as they are temporary and the corporate team would still have theoverall responsibility. This should (in theory) have a larger range ofapplicants as this is the ~3-7 year experience side. Experience withcontractors (mechanical, directing contractors) and working on constructionsites.
A bonus if they haveexperience as a general contractor.
