Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Scientist with specialized expertise in biological resource management, regulatory compliance, and field operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that environmental standards are upheld during field work, with a focus on avian nesting behavior, riparian habitat protection, and mitigation of biological risks. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, technical, and communication skills, and will be responsible for guiding field teams, performing data reviews, conducting environmental assessments, and supporting environmental program development. Business conduct must occur in accordance with OMS policies and procedures and be aligned with the goals of OMS.
Essential Functions:
• Apply expertise in avian nesting, riparian habitats, and environmental regulations to resolve field-related biological and compliance issues in real-time.
• Lead and support field crews, ensuring that all work aligns with client’s environmental requirements and best practices.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of environmental data collected in the field and through desktop assessments.
• Monitor adherence to client policies and relevant environmental regulations; identify and correct any compliance gaps.
• Other duties as assigned by OMS or the client.
Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field (Master’s preferred)
o 5+ years of experience in environmental consulting, field biology, or natural resource management
o Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., CEQA, NEPA, MBTA, ESA, Clean Water Act)
o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, GIS applications, and digital data collection tools
o Conduct a background check, drug screening, and physical exam.
o Approval by Client Representative.
Working Conditions: Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor conditions; exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on/walk on slippery or uneven and potentially mountainous terrain. Noise level is usually moderate.
