Project Accountant | Iconic Design Practice | London / Hybrid
The Client
Harmonic are delighted to be partnering with one of the world's most recognised design practices in their search for an experienced Project Accountant to play a pivotal role in improving commercial visibility across a complex project portfolio. The Role
This position sits within a high-performing finance team of 10, reporting into the Head of Finance. You'll work closely with Directors, Project Leads/Managers, and Operations teams to provide accruate project reporting, and support senior level decision making. This includes monitoring project performance, revenue recognition reporting, WIP accoutning, and forecasting. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy mixing hands-on financial rigour with strong stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities
- Partner with Project Leads to monitor project performance, including revenue recognition, margins, WIP, and forecasting
- Prepare monthly project reports and dashboards, ensuring accuracy and clarity for senior leadership
- Support proposal reviews, budgeting, and resource planning for new and ongoing projects
- Maintain high-quality project financial data, ensuring correct coding, contract terms, and schedules
- Lead monthly project reviews, highlighting risks, opportunities, and corrective actions
- Oversee invoicing cycles, ensuring timely billing aligned with contract milestones
- Review and reconcile WIP balances, working closely with the wider finance team
- Support improvements across project accounting processes and internal controls
- Assist with year-end and audit requirements relating to project revenue
- Act as a trusted point of contact for project teams, providing guidance on financial best practice
What our client needs to see (essential):
- 5+ years of WIP / Project Accounting experience, ideally within construction, engineering, architecture, professional services, or design-led environments
- Confident communicator able to build trust with creative teams
- Excellent Excel skills and experience working with project management or ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
What we’d like to see (non-essential):
- Exposure to multi-currency or international project portfolios
- Prior experience in a design, architecture, or consultancy business
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + benefits
Start Date: Flexible
