(Helping Each Adolescent Reach Their Spark) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering parents through holistic support services, education, and community engagement. Our mission is to give love to H.E.A.R.T.S. by fostering resilience, leadership, and self-sufficiency in families across Durham.

Position Summary: The Program Director will lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of all H.E.A.R.T.S. programs and oversee program staff ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission to empower parents. This role requires strategic leadership, operational excellence, with a deep commitment to community partnership, family empowerment, strong management skills, and the ability to foster a culture of team bonding, leadership, accountability, and compassion.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Education, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in program management or nonprofit leadership.
  • Experience working with youth, families, and community-based programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, and program management tools.
  • Experience with social media, marketing, grant writing, and fundraising is a but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Program Leadership & Development

  • Design, implement, and manage program strategies aligned with H.E.A.R.T.S.' mission and goals.
  • Oversee daily operations including budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor program outcomes and adjust strategies to improve impact and efficiency.
  • Ensure programs meet the quality standards and comply with funding requirements

2. Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor program staff, promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Facilitate staff training and professional development.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture

3. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Cultivate new and maintain current partnerships with program participants, schools, community organizations, and local agencies.
  • Represent H.E.A.R.T.S. at community events, conferences, and meetings to enhance visibility and partnerships.

4. Data and Reporting

  • Monitor program outcomes and impact using data-driven tools.
  • Prepare reports for executive leadership, funders, and stakeholders.
  • Use data to inform program improvements and strategic decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with grant and contract requirements

5. Budget & Resource Management

  • Assist the executive leadership in program budgeting and resource allocation in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with grant and funding requirements.

Time Commitment: Full-time employees work seven hours each day - working at least 35 hours a week including weekend and evening events.

Dress Code: H.E.A.R.T.S. apparel and business casual.

Evaluation: All new hires, full-time employees, will start on a 90-day probationary period with hands on , trainings, and weekly check-ins with the supervisor. Employees will be evaluated at the end of the 90 days (about 3 months) to determine if the employee with continue with the organization. This job's performance will be evaluated quarterly by your supervisor and in accordance with grant funding provisions.
