Job DescriptionJob Description

Seneca Dairy Systems is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) with a strong background in structural and mechanical engineering to serve as an Engineer of Record for our steel and post-frame building projects. This role will be responsible for producing and reviewing designs, performing code-required analyses, and regularly stamping/sealing structural calculations and drawings for permitting and construction.

The ideal candidate has deep technical competence in steel/post-frame systems, confidence in engineering judgment, and the ability to support projects from concept through field execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for structural designs, including regular stamping/sealing of:
• • Structural calculations
  • Construction drawings
  • Permit and jurisdictional submittal packages
• Design and/or review building structural systems for steel and post-frame structures, including:
• • Columns/posts, trusses/rafters, girts, purlins, bracing systems, diaphragms, and connections
  • Modifications, additions, repairs, and retrofits
  • Anchorage and foundation interface details (within structural scope)
• Perform load analysis including wind, snow, seismic, live, and equipment loads based on applicable codes and jurisdiction requirements.
• Coordinate structural design with mechanical and equipment requirements, including:
• • Equipment loads, supports, platforms, and specialty mounting
  • Integration with ventilation systems, overhead doors, and other building components
• Prepare and review structural details, connection designs, and engineered solutions for field conditions.
• Review and approve contractor/shop drawing submittals; respond to RFIs and design revisions.
• Support construction through collaboration with project teams, site visits as needed, and field issue resolution.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, AISI, NDS, and relevant NY/local requirements.
• Maintain accurate project records, calculations, stamp logs, and revision documentation.
• Foundation Design Experience ()

Required Qualifications

• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in New York (NY) (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering (Structural focus), or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience with building structures (steel structures, post-frame systems, PEMBs, or similar).
• Demonstrated experience stamping/sealing structural drawings and calculations for permitting and construction.
• Strong working knowledge of structural analysis, load path design, lateral stability systems, and connection design.
• Proficiency with drafting/design tools (AutoCAD and/or similar) and engineering calculation methods.
• Experience with MBS Software a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with internal teams, customers, and contractors.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain high-quality output under deadlines.
