Job DescriptionJob Description
Now Hiring: Production Supervisor
Location: Lenexa, KS
Company: Worldwide Innovations & Technologies, Inc.
Industry: Medical Device Manufacturing
Worldwide Innovations & Technologies, Inc. (WIT) manufactures radiation protection shielding for interventional surgical procedures. We are a process-driven organization that prides itself on its consistent level of product quality through its commitment to ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 regulations. Our goal is to continue to produce products of the highest quality and consistency, continuously improve our manufacturing processes, and develop our team.
The WIT culture is a well-established team-based approach in which we all support each other while serving in different areas of responsibility. We seek out the inefficiencies in our systems and develop ways to improve. We encourage sharing our mistakes and our successes so all can benefit from one another’s experiences. This is NOT a position where one will succeed through a laissez-faire mentality. We thrive on being positive (especially during challenges), and we approach both our work and our interactions with a sense of humor. Disrespect of others, gossip, taking shortcuts, hiding mistakes, and any form of integrity violation…is NOT tolerated here…by anyone.
The Production Supervisor Role. This position is responsible for providing leadership and oversight during the afternoon and evening shifts as our manufacturing team expands into two overlapping shifts. This supervisor role requires being highly attentive to detail, having a natural drive for quality, thriving on problem-solving, energizing those around them, being comfortable with people, balancing hands-on involvement with mechanical components and administrative tasks, and bringing a mindset of continuous improvement to everything.
This position demands strict enforcement and application of the established ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 processes, which include seeking improvements in our operations and fostering a cohesive team environment. It also manages manual and automated production processes while leading staff, supporting equipment operations, and ensuring quality standards, all within a safe, efficient, and productive manufacturing environment. Additionally, it involves coordinating various interconnected tasks, such as inspections for accuracy, staff training, managing staffing schedules, and enforcing gowning and hygiene protocols. Other responsibilities include tracking raw materials and product quantities and lots, planning production schedules, optimizing space, and overseeing teams of 10 or more employees.
Success in this role requires a solid mechanical understanding to quickly learn and evaluate the operation of complex machine parts, as well as interpersonal skills to effectively lead diverse groups and manage multiple ongoing operations on the manufacturing floor. This job also involves analyzing labor rates, item throughput rates, and other metrics using the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Attention to detail is crucial.
Much of your time will be spent on your feet. In the manufacturing bay, you must wear a hairnet, beard net (as applicable), lab coats, and steel-toed shoes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the production team’s (manual and automated) day-to-day manufacturing operations, focusing on quality, safety, and performance.
- Ensure accurate raw material selection, product assembly, packaging, and lot tracking.
- Maintain production records, inventory transactions, and quality control documentation.
- Support Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train, evaluate, and support team development and performance.
- Motivate and coach employees to meet daily goals while fostering a culture of accountability and engagement.
- Report on key performance indicators (KPIs), non-conformance issues, and production timelines.
:
- A associate or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in manufacturing.
- Experience in ISO (preferably ISO 13485 and/or ISO 9001).
- Minimum of 1–3 years of manufacturing supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and continuous improvement.
- Strong organizational, mechanical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; capable of lifting to 60 pounds.
