Position Summary
As a representative of the company and a role model to team members, the Production Supervisor, Finishing, is responsible for leading the production process to the final stages—ensuring that every vessel meets Everglades’ exceptional standards for surface quality, appearance, and craftsmanship. This individual provides hands-on leadership and direction to the Finishing team, managing all aspects of surface preparation, buffing, detailing, hardware installation, and cosmetic quality control.
The Supervisor ensures that all team members deliver defect-free products on time while maintaining a safe, collaborative, and high-performing work environment in compliance with applicable regulations.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Lead daily operations within the Finishing Department, including gelcoat repair, sanding, buffing, detailing, rigging interface, and cosmetic inspections.

Coach, mentor, and provide performance management and constructive feedback to Finishing team members.

Communicate operational goals, expectations, and quality standards clearly and effectively.

Manage to key performance indicators (KPIs), production forecasts, and execution plans related to surface finish quality and production throughput.

Ensure consistent adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Determine and adjust staffing levels based on Finishing production demands.

Collaborate cross-functionally with upstream and downstream departments to manage workflow, resolve quality issues, and maintain production schedules.

Conduct accident and quality incident investigations, maintaining appropriate documentation.

Monitor timekeeping and attendance to ensure accuracy and accountability.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
-
Associate’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
-
Minimum of 5 years of Finishing experience in marine or composite manufacturing, including gelcoat repair, sanding, polishing, and final detailing.

At least 1 year of experience in a Team Lead or supervisory capacity within a Finishing or comparable department.

Strong working knowledge of surface defect correction, polishing compounds, and final inspection criteria.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

5–8 years of direct supervisory experience in a production environment.

Prior experience as a Production or Operations Supervisor in a Finishing Department within the boat or marine manufacturing industry is highly .

- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements include eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, protective suits, dusts masks and respirators.
- The employee is regularly required to be on their feet; occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Constant use of hands/hand tools for assembly, fine manipulation, inspecting parts, and/or machine operating. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Employees must be able to work a 10-hour shift or more in one workday, including planned and unplanned overtime.
- Exhibits ability to work cautiously but efficiently in potentially hazardous conditions.
- Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud and is non-climate controlled.
