Production Supervisor

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Production Lead to coordinate daily assembly operations at a busy manufacturing facility in Canton, Massachusetts.

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for directing workflow, assigning work, managing production priorities, monitoring output, and helping the assembly team meet daily productivity, quality, and safety goals.

The ideal candidate has three to five years of manufacturing or assembly experience, previous lead or coordinator experience, and a strong understanding of production scheduling, labor utilization, workflow improvement, and team accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Production and Assembly Operations

• Manage daily production schedules and adjust priorities based on demand.
• Assign and balance work across assembly team members.
• Monitor daily output and ensure production targets are achieved.
• Track productivity, schedule attainment, labor utilization, and other production KPIs.
• Identify bottlenecks and resolve workflow issues in real time.
• Ensure employees follow standard work instructions and assembly procedures.
• Coordinate with planning and warehouse teams to confirm material availability.
• Maintain clear communication regarding production priorities and deadlines.

Team Leadership

• Provide daily direction and support to the assembly team.
• Lead shift-start meetings covering production goals, safety, quality, and expectations.
• Train and cross-train employees to improve flexibility and performance.
• Coach employees and provide ongoing feedback.
• Promote accountability, teamwork, and a high-performance work environment.
• Assist with staffing needs and workforce planning.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and throughput.
• Review daily production data and recommend process improvements.
• Apply lean manufacturing practices to reduce waste and improve workflow.
• Improve labor utilization and line balancing.
• Support and sustain continuous improvement initiatives.
• Recommend solutions that improve production performance and quality.

Quality and Safety

• Ensure all assembly work meets established quality standards and specifications.
• Support quality checks, corrective actions, and problem resolution.
• Enforce company safety policies and operating procedures.
• Promote a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
• Address safety or quality concerns promptly.

Inventory and Materials

• Coordinate with planning and warehouse personnel to ensure materials are available.
• Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or excess materials.
• Minimize waste and promote efficient material usage.
• Escalate material shortages that may affect production schedules.

Required Qualifications

• Three to five years of experience in assembly, manufacturing, or production operations.
• Previous experience as a team lead, production lead, assembly lead, or coordinator.
• Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
• Experience assigning work and managing daily production priorities.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of production goals, quality standards, and workplace safety.
• Ability to identify issues quickly and make sound operational decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience tracking production KPIs and labor utilization.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methods.
• Experience with production scheduling and line balancing.
• Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or production-tracking systems.
• Experience training, coaching, or cross-training manufacturing employees.
• Experience coordinating with warehouse, planning, inventory, or materials teams.
