SUMMARY:
Responsible for supervising machining departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Schedule departmental work and expedite top priority jobs to meet workflow demands.
- Improve new processes, routings, and re-work.
- Track and document all scrap and re-work.
- Inventory management, including ordering departmental supplies and getting equipment repaired.
- Be an active participant in all management meetings, process improvements, safety, and company initiatives.
- Maintain housekeeping.
- Maintain safety standards and assist in identifying any potential safety issues.
- Maintain appropriate records in all company systems.
- Coordinate, plan & communicate with maintenance & outside services for machine repair & maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise departmental personnel, including reviewing, counseling, and communicating Company information and happenings.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent knowledge to obtain expertise in machining, equipment & processes.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with running CNC machines.
- Experience in a Supervisor or leadership role is .
- Background in LEAN Manufacturing and Visual Factory .
- Background in Problem Solving – 5 Why’s, 8 D, etc.
- 3-5+ years of experience managing other personnel in a machining environment.
SKILLS:
Must be fluent in English with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing drawings, technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Must be able to respond to inquiries or complaints from employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Uses addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers including decimals and fractions. Uses simple formulae, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules. Checks reports, forms, records and comparable data where interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge.
REASONING ABILITY:
Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
