The Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Production Planner to join our team and contribute to the success of both our production planning and operations departments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and optimising production schedules, monitoring inventory levels, and providing essential administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of daily operations. This role requires strong organisational skills, analytical thinking, and effective communication to collaborate with cross-functional teams and enhance our overall production efficiency.
You will be an integral part of the team, overseeing all operation processes and continuously monitoring the quality of the products, as well as ensuring that all activity is in line with manufacturing standards.
What you’ll be doing
- Creating production schedules, whilst making changes where required based on sales orders
- Coordinating a team of 8 production operatives, ensuring that all are maintaining output levels in line with KPIs and targets
- Monitoring productivity, standards, work and quality control to keep consistent levels of excellence across production.
- Assist with ensuring raw materials arrive on site for production on a ‘just in time’ basis.
- Assist with processing and monitoring stock movement via Inventory Management System, whilst dealing with any discrepancies
- Assist with managing and matching supplier delivery notes to purchase orders
- Working closely with the Warehouse and Operation Managers to make sure that KPIs are being met, and that the quality of products is consistent with customer expectations
- Assist with any operational administration duties where required
What you’ll bring to the role
- Previous experience working within a FMCG manufacturing role
- Proficiency in using production planning and inventory management software/ tools.
- A good understanding of planning, production, logistics, warehouse maintenance and product distribution
- Good Health, Safety and Environmental awareness with an understanding of risk assessments and legislation
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma principles is a plus.
- Strong IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office applications
- Confident in advising on best industry practices, and to identify and suggest process improvements
- You’ll be a problem solver, handling difficult problems efficiently but with patience and empathy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
