Job Summary
This position is responsible for the operation of plant processing equipment in a highly automated manufacturing facility. Operators are required to maintain knowledge of the process flow, computerized equipment and be aware of hazards associated with the process. The team member in this position is responsible for understanding and executing standard operation procedures and is expected to ensure proper response during normal and abnormal operation situations.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Monitor and operate assigned production process using HMI control software in order to ensure operation is within normal parameters
- Maintain knowledge of the process flow, computerized equipment and be aware of hazards associated with the process
- Responsible for understanding and executing standard operation procedures and is expected to ensure proper response during normal and abnormal operation situations
- Monitor density, tank levels, equipment and process conditions (temperature, vacuum pressure, pump current);
- Collect and test samples, such as specific gravity, concentration, pH, optical density, etc., to ensure level of quality
- Monitor test results and make appropriate production adjustments
- Maintain a clean work area
- Performs equipment maintenance and repair as necessary
- Follow all safety and regulatory requirements at all times
- Accurately and legibly record sample and process data
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Excel
- Ability to operate HMI computer software
- Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, the ability to multi-task, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to work in a safe manner

- Analytical ability
- Knowledge of general chemistry or science
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- This position works 12-hour shifts (36 / 48 hours per week alternating, rotating nights & days every 4 weeks), which includes days, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
- This position works in a manufacturing environment, which includes exposures to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, vibrations, varying atmospheric conditions and temperatures, hazardous chemicals, high pressure steam, dust, and water
- Ability to remain in a stationary position up to 60% of shift
- This position frequently ascends/descends stairs extensively, walks extended distances, and close distance vision, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally requires confined space entry, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, and ascending/descending ladders
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Manufacturing experience
