SUMMARY

Manages the Production Engineering department in carrying out all applicable company policies and procedures and achieving company goals & objectives. Provides technical support for manufacturing and supporting processes. Ensures compliance with regulatory, statutory, legal, and company requirements/guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - include the following.

  • Partner with the Aoyama Seisakusho group of companies to provide manufacturing processes to support the North American fastener markets.
  • Define, implement, and manage a team to support fastener manufacturing.
  • Analyze production and engineering data to recommend a proactive engineered solution to eliminate safety risk, improve quality, optimize productivity, reduce cost, and reduce carbon footprint. Leverage AI, IIOT, and automation solutions.
  • Oversee and manage the company’s capital projects program, including identification, documentation, quoting, justification, project management, implementation, and reporting. Maintain 5 5-year capital plan and priorities. Partner with accounting for regular reporting of project status and spending.
  • Provide technical assistance to all departments on engineered solutions to support SQDC.
  • Develop and deliver engineering training to technical Team Members. Support problem investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. Includes the use of pokayoke devices.
  • Consult with managers on the existence, utilization, condition, and/or operations of manufacturing equipment. Drive continuous improvement and adoption of advanced manufacturing capabilities.
  • Leads the carbon neutral (CN) project roadmap and supports green programs. Partner with senior leadership to fund, staff, and prioritize CN projects. Partner with functional departments to execute projects.
  • Lead manufacturing equipment selection, capability validation, and process maintenance activities. Define and implement automation roadmaps. Drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Able to develop strategic plans to support company goals and initiatives. Creates performance reports, presentations and countermeasures to corporate leaders.
  • Represents the company on engineering-related matters with outside regulatory agencies at local, county, state, and federal levels.
  • Help other departments as necessary. Guide engineering solutions, processes, and procedures.
  • Able to use CAD software.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field: Strong understanding of heat treatment principles, metallurgy, and material properties. Practical experience in heat treatment processes, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

COMMUNICATION

Effective communication skills to collaborate with other team members and customers. Ability to interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations, write reports, capital appropriation requests, and procedure manuals. Fluent in English. Japanese as a second is helpful.

PROBLEM-SOLVING

Ability to identify and resolve technical challenges related to heat treatment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The PE Manager will be required to successfully complete an annual hazmat physical and maintain a physical condition to properly wear a respirator if/when needed. Required to stand, walk, and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds.
