Product Safety Engineer - Multiple Locations UK-Wide
We are supporting a leading engineering and technology organisation in recruiting a Product Safety Engineer. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex equipment, ensuring robust safety practices are applied throughout the design and development lifecycle. The position is suitable for engineers with systems and safety experience, including candidates from other industries, with maritime or submarine experience .
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure product safety is considered and implemented in the design of complex systems and equipment.
- Apply DEF STAN 00-55 and 00-56 standards in practical, real-world engineering contexts, demonstrating thorough understanding beyond theoretical knowledge.
- Collaborate with design and systems engineering teams to assess safety implications, including software-related aspects, and contribute to risk management strategies.
- Develop and maintain safety documentation and support safety case evidence as required.
- Support upskilling and mentoring opportunities within the team, including development of less experienced engineers.
- Contribute to cost- and risk-controlled solutions across projects, leveraging maritime or submarine engineering knowledge where applicable.
What You'll Bring:
- Strong systems engineering and safety experience, ideally in complex technical environments.
- Understanding of DEF STAN 00-55 and 00-56 standards and ability to apply them practically.
- Awareness of software implications on system safety (software safety experience not required).
- Analytical and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to translate safety requirements into practical engineering solutions.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to engage with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Open to candidates from other sectors with relevant systems or safety experience; ex-submariners considered for development into full role.
Package & Structure:
- Salary: Up to £61,500 plus £2,500 bonus
