Product Safety and Reliability Engineer (ILS) in Chertsey, Surrey

Our client, an industry leader in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a dedicated Product Safety and Reliability Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role involves performing crucial Product Engineering Support across multiple projects, primarily during product development but also maintaining records and customer artefacts. Reporting to the Supportability Team Lead and supervised by the Senior ILS Engineer and Senior Safety Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that Product Safety and Reliability data is accurately collated and analysed across all project stages.



Key Responsibilities:



Undertake Product Safety Test and Analysis to ensure compliance with applicable Safety and Environmental requirements

Generate Materials and Components Lists, feeding a central repository

Manage Datasheet Libraries, including Technical Data, Safety Data, and RoHS compliance evidence

Conduct Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), including administration and reporting

Perform Reliability predictions at component and system levels, collating MTBF data from the OEM, Suppliers, and MIL-HDBK-217

Maintain Data Reporting and Corrective Action System (DRACAS) and report to monthly project/ILS Working Groups

Assist the ILS Team with Maintainability Task Analysis and Obsolescence Risk Register management



Job Requirements:



Experience working in the Defence or related sector (military, MoD, or contracting)

Familiarity with relevant Safety and Reliability Defence Standards (e.g., 00-55, 00-56, 00-42, 00-44)

Engineering HND and Eng Tech Professional Registration (or working towards)

Human Factors experience

Experience in product Reliability or Safety data collection and analysis

Commitment to quality, performance, and cost, delivering on-time to the highest standard

Ability to work autonomously while maintaining professional integrity

Flexibility to adapt to specific project requirements and demand changes at short notice

Proficient computer skills including MS Office suite

Excellent literacy and communication skills

Holding or ability to attain SC UK security clearance
