Job Summary:

SCREEN SPE USA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Engineer to project manage the reliability and productivity of an expanding Wet Cleaning Product portfolio within a strategic business unit.  Must effectively combine technical acumen, externally facing customer communication abilities and detailed product hardware knowledge with professional organization and leadership skills.  This position reports to Sr. Engineering and Strategic Business Development Manager.  Primary work location will be based in Hillsboro, OR.  Opportunities will arise to travel to SCREEN Japan, Europe, and throughout the continental US to support varied activities and attend customer meetings.  Possessing valid international travel documents is prerequisite for this role.  Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000

 

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibility of a SCREEN‐US Product Engineer is to engage closely with customers and factory engineering teams, providing end‐to‐end ownership of project execution, issue resolution, and escalation support for assigned platforms.
  • Work in concert with the customer, local expats, and the factory development team by aiding with design enhancements, related prototyping, modeling, proof-of-concept, and proceed with pilot testing.
  • Exhibit great understanding of Cause & Effect (fishbone) diagrams, flow charts, flow sheets, pareto charts, brainstorming, scatter diagrams, run charts, and UCL/LCL to arrive at a root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the assigned products/platforms and respond to equipment configuration, modification recommendations/options, problems, repairs, maintenance, or general operation.
  • Maintain a close relationship with the “on the floor” issues and competitive situations.  Work with the Account Manager and Direct Manager to address the issues and identify modification opportunities.
  • Routinely lead customer User Group (UG), Engineering Working Group (TD), and Task Force (TF) meetings.  Closely manage multiple tool configurations and DCPs for customer(s) under the Copy‐Exact (CE!) policy to avoid CE! violations.
  • Must establish a clear and balanced supporting path includes guiding the factory engineering team in the direction to best fulfill customer’s reasonable expectations. 
  • Must fully understand RFQ/DCP/DCP-approval/Quote/PO process and comply without deviation.  Consult with the direct Manager and/or Account Manager of each respective product for full alignment.
  • Discuss and engage in DCP options, scope of work, and installation feasibility.  Ability to differentiate each DCP category.
  • Assist the customer with RFQ completion, clearly communicate the customer’s requests to the Screen factory engineering team via Teams meetings and written email with well‐defined expectations, and support both the customer and the Screen factory throughout pilot testing, including review of pilot results.
  • Develop new product configuration, initiate and manage all facets of engineering design change proposal (DCP), and maintain product integrity while simultaneously aiding U.S Sales of advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales and upgrades.

  • Strong technical leadership, self-discipline, flexible working hours, project management skills, exemplary problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively guide interdepartmental actions necessary to achieve the desired equipment performance for assigned customers while enabling regional post-sales upgrading business opportunities
  • Must be present in the fab and at Screen equipment to provide assistance or engage in discussions, as required or directed by the direct manager.
  • Exhibit full ownership, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Must exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, both internally and externally with the customer(s).  Ensure explanations include adequate detail so that all stakeholders clearly understand and remain aligned.
  • Demonstrate great presentation skills and conduct meetings with the customer in-person unless otherwise specified by the customer. 
  • The Product Engineer is expected to manage and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.  Must manage all assigned projects and follow up effectively until closure.
  • Consistently maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.  Be resourceful, punctual, engaging, helpful, and a constructive bridge to the Screen factory engineering team.
  • Demonstrate strong capability in collaborating with cross‐functional internal teams.
  • Be resourceful internally to the Service Group (FSE) and assist in identifying the correct replacement part/part number from a detailed description of the component and system module affected by DCP.
  • Weekly report is required.  Submit weekly reports to Direct Manager.  The report should describe the past week’s accomplishments, problems, issues, and help needed.  It should also include the week’s activities and clearly state absences due to scheduled time-off, etc.
  • Clear verbal and written pass-down are required on urgent issues/projects for proper coverage and support prior to time-off departure.
  • Complete all required training courses and documentation submission as required/requested.
  • Must comply with all Safety protocols and requirements.  Be constantly vigilant about safety issues and act quickly to resolve any unsafe conditions.

 

Education & Experience:

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in Semiconductor equipment manufacturing with deep knowledge in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Robotics, or Software.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including after‐hours meetings with the Screen factory (Japan), to support business and customer needs.
  • B.S.  Degree in Engineering or Physics .  Lesser degree acceptable with prior related industry experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Japanese skills are a great benefit for this role.
