Position Overview
The Product Engineer is a critical role responsible for driving all engineering functions for the Eclipse Shutter Program product portfolio, including current products, new product development, and continuous performance improvements. This position plays a key role in delivering innovative, best-in-class products that align with organizational goals and market leadership objectives. By leveraging technical expertise and problem-solving skills, the Product Engineer ensures the successful execution of projects and product enhancements.
What you'll do
- Lead engineering functions for the Eclipse Shutter Program product portfolio, ensuring a best-in-class product offering.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify innovative solutions, improve existing products, and develop breakthrough concepts.
- Perform initial and ongoing design reviews, ensuring accuracy and quality in product and component designs.
- Develop CAD project drawings and review external team/vendor drawings for precision and compliance.
- Identify process deficiencies and implement solutions to improve efficiency and performance.
- Provide technical expertise and training to other departments, including specialized training on new product launches.
- Coordinate with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Operations) and external suppliers to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met.
- Support intercompany divisions and departmental projects as needed.
- All other duties as assigned
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in window coverings or consumer durables in home hardware is a plus.
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks for CAD design and review.
- Strong project management skills, including prioritization and budget management.
- Ability to identify innovative solutions and patentable concepts.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide training.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other software programs.
- Solid math skills, including fractions, for engineering calculations.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (less than 10%) for vendor visits, trade shows, and seminars.
