The Product Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing new ballistic and blast products as well as improving existing ones.

This role is critical as it will help ensure that these products meet the needs of the customers and are produce meeting quality standards and efficiency. The role will scale up of processing from design concept to prototype to full production.

The Product Engineer will provide companywide technical product support and will work closely with sales and Production.

Product Engineer Job Duties

  • Armor product design based on requirements provided by sales and management.
  • Process scale up from design concept to prototype to full production.
  • Technical Sales support role to Sale Department as part of the Integrated Product Team (IPT).
  • Project Engineering on proposals and special projects. Sees to all technical aspects of project needs and ensures compliance to technical requirements.
  • Oversees and directs ballistic and other product testing with laboratories.
  • Conducts material baseline testing and advises Procurement and Finance on potential raw material improvements.
  • Oversees and directs process implementation and improvement in support of Operations department. Has final say on all processing methods as they relate to product quality and performance.
  • Technical support role for Procurement as part of the Vendor Evaluation Team (VET).
  • Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Maintains quality by specifying and supporting organizational standards.
  • Oversees upkeep and maintenance of the Laboratory area. Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Carry oneself with a constant sense of urgency and a commitment to service to our customers.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Product Engineer Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have minimum of a Bachelors of Engineering Degree in one of the following: Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or Materials Engineering.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience armor and/or composite materials design and manufacturing.
  • Must be able to handle multiple duties in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and attention to detail are a must.
  • Must present well to customers.
  • Must be able to supervise and direct a team.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50%.
  • Extensive computer skills are required (working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, Statistical Analysis Software, Basic Programming Proficiency, etc.).
