J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers is seeking a Product Engineer who is responsible for the design, R&D, and continuous improvement of assigned product lines and projects. Product lines include steel and aluminum bodies, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems for vocational trucks and trailers. This role works closely with the sales team to provide estimates and support proposals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other job-related duties may be assigned in compliance with state and federal regulations.

• Designs and creates proposal drawings and detailed drawings, and specifications for truck bodies and trailers using AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Reviews customer specifications and conducts customer application research.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for assigned product lines.
• Develops and maintains bills of material and routing records for product configurations for sales proposals and manufacturing orders.
• Creates estimates and proposals for engineered-to-order solutions.
• Serves as a project manager for assigned projects, coordinating production efforts.
• Communicates with others inside and outside the organization, including customers, chassis manufacturers, and suppliers.
• Document design decisions, calculations, and analysis.
• Support the sales team by providing technical input to answer customer questions.
• Ensures compliance with federal motor vehicle safety standards.
• Observes and complies with all the provisions of the ISO 9001 QMS.
• Observes and complies with all safety rules, always including the use of PPE.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or Engineering Technology (E.T.) from a four-year college or university, or high school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
