Job Description
ROLE- Product Design Engineer\n\nLOCATION- Southampton \n\nTERM- Permanent\n\nSALARY- £38,000 - £45,000, dependent on experience \n\nMy client is a specialist product designer and manufacturer. They are looking for a Product Design Engineer, with strong experience designing consumer products, to join their team in Southampton on a permanent basis.\n\nThe Product Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:\n\nDegree qualified in Product Design, Industrial Design or similar\nAt least 3 years’ experience in a similar Design Engineering position\nHands-on experience with R&D, testing and prototype development\nExperience working on full lifecycle design projects\nA sound understanding of Mechanical Engineering processes and materials\nPrevious work experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment would be beneficial\nBe proficient using 2D and 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite etc.\nExperienced working with a range of materials including metal and plastics\nBe technically minded with a head for problem solving\nProven ability to drive Engineering development\nAble to work to specific requirements and deadlines\nExcellent attention to detail\nOrganised with excellent communication and teamwork skills \n\n The Product Design Engineer role will involve:\n\nDeveloping ideas from concept through to production\nUsing CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings\nWorking on full lifecycle product design projects\nSpeaking to End Users and doing market research\nLiaising with manufacturing providers\nBeing involved in final assembly of products\nCreating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans\nUpdating 3D models and drawings\nInputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs\nChecking drawings for sign off\nWorking in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects \n\n If you are interested in this position, please apply with an up to date CV as soon as possible
