Product/Industrial Design Engineer – SolidWorks | Up to £45,000 | Consumer Electronics


Location: Southampton Area

Salary: Up to £45,000 (depending on experience)

I’m partnered with a rapidly growing international electronics company with an expanding product range and new market ambitions who are looking for a talented Product Design Engineer to join our in-house design team and play a key role in shaping future innovations.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Take concepts from sketch to reality – producing initial ideas, sketches, and final production-ready CAD models.
  • Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Design products with plastics and other materials, focusing on Design for Manufacture (DFM).
  • Work cross-functionally within multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of exciting briefs.
  • Conduct research into new materials, technologies, and manufacturing methods.
  • Be instrumental in new product development (NPD) – generating ideas and contributing to the long-term roadmap.
  • Continuously improve existing products to maintain competitive edge.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams in the UK and the Far East to bring your designs into full-scale production.


About You:

  • Degree-qualified in Product Design, Industrial Design, or similar (BA/BSc).
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD tools.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a product or industrial design role.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and keen to see designs through to manufacture.
