Job Title: Buyer - Procurement
Location: WEST ALLIS, WI (onsite)
Contract Duration: 22 weeks
Work Hours: 8AM - 4:30PM

Minimum experience: (Medical Buying would be helpful, not necessary)
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
System experience: Experience with Materials Management Information Systems (MMIS) is strongly ; Workday or similar ERP system experience is a plus. Proficiency in basic computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Summary of position: The Buyer plays a critical role in the procurement cycle by managing supplier relationships, executing sourcing initiatives, and supporting cost-saving strategies. This position serves as a key partner to internal departments, ensuring the acquisition of supplies, equipment, and services that align with organizational objectives. Buyers are responsible for processing requisitions, evaluating supplier performance, optimizing purchasing decisions, and ensuring compliance with sourcing policies to maximize efficiency and financial stewardship.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect Children’s values and support our mission and vision.
- Manages procurement transactions with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to procurement policies and health system standards.
- Partners with Contract Management and Value Analysis teams to ensure compliance with negotiated contracts and help identify potential cost savings or conversions to compliant purchasing.
- Monitors supplier performance, resolving issues related to order fulfillment, backorders, product quality, and invoice discrepancies.
- Leverages data-driven insights and dashboards to track and meet procurement key performance indicator (KPI) metrics surrounding acknowledgments, match exceptions, and sourcing efforts.
- Acts as a liaison between the Supply Chain Consultants and end-users to assure complete and timely communication of purchase order status.
- Reviews item utilization data to provide recommendations for optimizing supply chain efficiency.
- Partners with the Supply Chain Systems team to maintain accurate item master records.
- Collaborates with Supply Chain Consultants and Clinicians, ensuring transparent communication and issue resolution in contingency planning.
- Works closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement process improvements that enhance procurement efficiency and operational effectiveness.
- Supports the development of procurement best practices, automation strategies, and innovative sourcing methodologies.
- May collaborate directly with the Sourcing – Capital Program Manager, as necessary.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support the strategic goals of the Supply Chain Management team.
