Data Analyst – Procurement
Location: San Rafael, CA | Onsite/Hybrid
8-month contract with high potential to extend or convert to FTE
PAY: $45-50/hour
About the Role
We are seeking a Data Analyst to join our Global Supply Chain Procurement team. This role supports Category Managers responsible for raw material categories and plays a key part in category strategy execution, supplier performance management, and contract lifecycle support. The position requires strong analytical capabilities, procurement knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across multiple functions including Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Compliance, and Regulatory Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Analytics
- Partner with Category Managers and stakeholders to drive execution of multi-year value creation initiatives.
- Use spend analytics and market intelligence to identify innovation, cost optimization, and risk mitigation opportunities.
- Maintain knowledge of supplier capabilities, capacity, and financial stability to support supplier selection decisions.
Contract Management
- Support supplier contract negotiations in collaboration with Legal.
- Ensure contracts are robust, comprehensive, and aligned with business needs.
- Monitor contract compliance and value realization.
Stakeholder & Supplier Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships through effective SRM practices.
- Lead cross-functional category council meetings and contribute to RMAB activities.
- Support supplier issue resolution and collaborate with key internal functions.
- Contribute to new product introductions and technology transfer initiatives.
Data Management & Process Excellence
- Maintain data integrity across procurement systems including PowerBI, SharePoint, Veeva, GEP Smart, Coupa/Ariba, Oracle/SAP.
- Manage new item creation, ASL, SCNs, supplier investigations/deviations, and ensure timely closure of CRs and Deviations.
- Execute sourcing processes (RFx) including supplier evaluation, selection, and contracting.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes and systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Finance, or Supply Chain.
- 3–5+ years of procurement experience with expertise in category management, sourcing, and supplier contract negotiations.
- 1–3+ years of experience in biotech, life sciences, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes (contracting, relationship management, market analysis, category planning, etc.).
- Proficiency in Ariba and SAP ; experience with other procurement/ERP systems a plus.
- Basic understanding of GMP manufacturing processes and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience working on cross-functional and global teams.
- Ability to solve complex problems and develop solutions consistent with organizational objectives.
