Our client is looking for a Procurement Manager to play a key role in supporting major infrastructure, engineering and technology projects across the UK. Working closely with project teams and key stakeholders, you will lead procurement activity throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring suppliers, contracts and sourcing strategies are aligned with business objectives.
This is a hybrid role, with three days spent in the office and the remainder of the week working remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and managing all procurement activities for key infrastructure projects, from the initial bidding process right through to successful delivery.
- Developing tailored procurement strategies for each project, ensuring supplier selection aligns with specific technical needs and commercial objectives.
- Engaging with project teams from the outset to influence design and sourcing decisions, improving cost-effectiveness and strengthening the supply chain.
- Upholding the highest standards of practice by ensuring all procurement work complies with our client's internal governance and policies.
- Acting as the main procurement contact for project and bid teams, providing clear and consistent updates on supplier strategy, negotiations and commercial status.
- Working closely with commodity managers to guide supplier sourcing, engagement and negotiation processes.
- Championing the company's commitment to ESG standards by ensuring all suppliers meet the required approval criteria.
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues across various departments, including engineering and project management, to ensure procurement efforts support overall project goals.
- Identifying opportunities for cost savings and managing any supplier-related issues to ensure they are resolved efficiently.
Who They’re Looking For:
- A strong background in procurement, with demonstrable experience working on projects, preferably within the transport, engineering, or technology sectors.
- A recognised professional qualification in procurement, such as CIPS or an equivalent.
- A comprehensive understanding of structured procurement processes, from strategic sourcing and governance to commercial negotiations.
- The ability to interpret technical documents and translate them into clear requirements for suppliers.
- Experience using ERP systems (familiarity with SAP would be beneficial) and other digital procurement tools.
- Excellent skills in building and maintaining relationships with internal teams and senior stakeholders.
- The confidence to communicate with and influence people at all levels of a project, from team members to senior leaders.
- An organised and methodical approach to your work, with a clear respect for procurement governance.
- A proactive and accountable mindset, with a focus on taking ownership and delivering results.
- The ability to analyse project needs and develop effective procurement plans to meet them.
