Job PurposeProcurement and Cost Optimization Manager is responsible for leading and managing the procurement process, including sourcing, negotiating, and contracting with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of goods and services. The role involves developing and implementing cost-saving strategies across the supply chain, analyzing purchasing patterns, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize expenses without compromising quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the procurement process, including sourcing, negotiating, and contracting with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of goods and services.

- Source and purchase materials, goods, and services based on company requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier communications.
- Develop and implement cost-saving strategies across the supply chain and procurement processes to optimize expenses without compromising quality or operational efficiency.
- Analyze purchasing patterns and identify areas for potential cost reductions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, operations, etc.) to implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Evaluate current suppliers and identify opportunities to consolidate orders, negotiate better terms, or switch suppliers for cost efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers to secure favorable terms, improve delivery performance, and drive continuous improvements.
- Continuously assess supplier capabilities and assess whether new suppliers should be introduced.
- Regularly research new suppliers, products, and industry innovations to ensure the company remains competitive.
- Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and industry benchmarks to identify opportunities for cost reduction and procurement process improvements.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and service levels aligned with company objectives.
- Work closely with internal departments (e.g., finance, operations, logistics) to ensure procurement strategies align with organizational goals and cost targets.
- Monitor and report on procurement metrics and cost reduction progress, providing regular updates to senior management on savings achieved, supplier performance, and procurement KPIs.
- Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, cost-saving initiatives, and overall purchasing performance.
- Identify areas for process improvement in the procurement cycle, utilizing tools such as supplier performance reviews and lean practices to drive efficiency gains.
- Collaborate with the inventory management team to align procurement efforts with inventory needs, minimizing overstock and stockouts.
- Demonstrate proficiency in managing Profit & Loss (P&L) statements to ensure procurement activities contribute positively to the company's financial performance.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 6+ years of proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, and/or cost optimization within a manufacturing company required.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
- Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather/analyze information appropriately
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms and driving cost reductions.
- Excellent analytical abilities, with experience in market analysis, supplier evaluation, and cost-benefit analysis.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
- Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment and to manage competing tasks.
