Procurement Analyst – DC Operations Support

Summary: The Procurement Analyst will play a critical role in supporting Distribution Center (DC) operations by executing timely purchasing decisions, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing inbound inventory flow. This position bridges procurement strategy with daily operational execution, ensuring the DC has the right materials, at the right time, at the right cost. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, data-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced logistics and supply chain environment.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Execution & Supplier Management

· Create, issue, and manage purchase orders to maintain required stock levels across DC locations.

· Monitor vendor lead times, confirm ship dates, and proactively address delays or shortages.

· Build strong relationships with key suppliers to negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and delivery schedules.

· Partner with freight brokers and carriers to ensure inbound shipments align with DC receiving capacity.

· Track and manage landed costs to ensure pricing accuracy and margin integrity.

DC Operations Alignment

· Support daily DC operations by aligning procurement activity with receiving schedules and pick/pack throughput.

· Collaborate with DC leadership to forecast inbound freight volumes and identify potential constraints.

· Maintain visibility into DC capacity, ensuring procurement decisions are synchronized with warehouse operations and inventory turns.

· Help optimize inbound shipping lanes and delivery windows to reduce demurrage, detention, and receiving bottlenecks.

· Provide daily/weekly PO visibility dashboards to DC and operations leadership teams.

Inventory & Demand Planning

· Analyze historical usage, open orders, and forecasted demand to drive purchasing decisions.

· Partner with inventory control to minimize stockouts and excess inventory, targeting optimal I/S ratios.

· Track key KPIs such as inventory turns, PO aging, fill rates, OTIF, and supplier performance.

· Participate in S&OP meetings to align procurement strategy with sales, logistics, and operational goals.

· Identify and implement process improvements to streamline order flow into the DC.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

· Maintain accurate procurement and vendor performance data within ERP/WMS systems.

· Build reports to provide visibility on inbound freight, PO status, and inventory coverage.

· Support annual vendor rebate tracking, freight incentive programs, and volume-based pricing analysis.

· Assist in vendor onboarding and compliance documentation to support DC receiving standards.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

· 2+ years of experience in procurement, DC operations support, or supply chain analysis.

· Advanced Excel and ERP/MRP system proficiency (e.g., NetSuite, Fishbowl, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).

· Strong understanding of inbound logistics, inventory planning, and supplier coordination.

· Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

· Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-moving operational environment.

· Experience working with 3PL/DC networks or multi-node distribution environments.

· Familiarity with freight brokerage and container/truckload tracking.

· Knowledge of vendor rebate and volume incentive structures.

· Prior involvement in setting reorder points, safety stock levels, or min/max programs
