Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Technician with expertise in plastic injection molding to join our manufacturing team in Ankeny, Iowa. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and optimizing molding processes while performing mold/tool changes and ensuring equipment efficiency, product quality, and adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mold/tool changes efficiently and accurately according to production schedules and safety protocols.

  • Set up and start up injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and molds to meet production requirements.

  • Optimize molding processes to improve part quality, reduce cycle times, and minimize scrap and downtime.

  • Troubleshoot mold, machine, and process-related issues; implement effective corrective actions.

  • Monitor and document process parameters; maintain accurate production and setup records.

  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to support reliability and performance.

  • Ensure proper handling, installation, and removal of tools and molds using overhead cranes or hoists as needed.

  • Train and support machine operators on proper process and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the molding area in accordance with 5S and safety guidelines.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and process development.

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in manufacturing technology, plastics, or related field .

  • Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in plastic injection molding and mold change operations.

  • Strong understanding of thermoplastics, mold setup, tooling safety, and processing techniques.

  • Familiarity with scientific molding principles (e.g., RJG, Decoupled Molding) is a plus.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and technical documentation.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.

  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for machine adjustments and part inspections.

  • Ability to operate cranes, hoists, and other mold-handling equipment safely.

You should be proficient in:

  • Injection Molding Experience
