- All scheduled machines to be ready for production at the start of each shift.
- In the event of a machine problem, back-ups to be started per stated priority
- Must have plastic injection molding experience.
Machine/Job Set-up
- Responsible to ensure proper job set-up.
- Job Instruction Book at each press running
- Job Set-up Sheet completely filled out with all required signatures
- Separate Job Set-up Sheets required for each of same part
- After sheet is completely filled, file in molding office
- Check date wheels are set correct for month and year
- Ensure first shot approval is obtained from Quality Inspectors. First shot requirements.
- After mold change
- After any plant shut down for a period of 5 or more days
- If tool is in press but has not run for 5 or more days
- After change
- After major tool repair
- After change in material brand or specification
- Fill out process verification sheet on every job daily unless process sheet for shift has been filled out.
- Check that operator acknowledgement sheets are signed by operator and initialed by supervisor or process technician
- New operator to sign for each job after being trained
- All operators to sign sheet once a month
Production/Process Monitoring
- Ensure hourly checks of all machines are being done
- Check part against first piece to ensure part quality
- Verify production rate is to standard
- Check scrap count, if 3 bad parts in a row or 5 for the same problem within a given hour operator has authority to open the door.
- Make required adjustments to correct problem and record on Process Change Monitoring Log and on Job Set-up Sheet.
- Complete Daily Cycle Time Verification Sheets
- Report all machines not running to standard to Supervisor within first hour.
- Quick and professional response to any operator or quality personnel questions or concerns on part quality.
- Record any process changes, to correct a quality issues, on the Job Set-up Sheet, and obtain quality technician signature.
Mold Changes
- Assist with the following:
- Make sure there are no partial boxes
- All parts, packaging, material and peripheral equipment for exiting job is put away.
- Area is cleaned, new packaging and material is set-up and ready for machine set-up.
Shift Communication
- Process Technicians to review any concerns or problems before coming on shift and leaving shift.
- Assist in recording pertinent shift events in the supervisors log located in the shop office.
- Make sure machines not scheduled for upcoming shift are properly shut down
- Assist upcoming shift with machine start-up and set-up.
Operator Training
- Assist supervisors in operator training:
- Machine operation and safety
- Proper usage of tools (knife, router, clippers, etc.)
- How to read job books
- How to fill out production report
- How to use grinders
- Requirements for specific jobs Molding Supervisor Job Description
- Utilization of experienced operator for job specific requirements allowed
Part Rejections
- Assist supervisor in working with quality personnel to determine disposition of rejected parts.
- Rejected parts that need sorting are to be sorted at the time they are found on that shift.
Maintenance and Tooling
- Inform maintenance personnel of any machine or equipment problems
- Inform Supervisor of any tooling problems.
- Change tool date calendars monthly.
- Clean dryer filters each week
- Clean vents on tools daily
- Check safety drop bars are set daily
- Fill out tool maintenance work orders for all tooling and machine issues
- Keep hoses, cords, etc… tied up out of trip areas
- All other duties assigned by supervisor
New Tool Tryout
- Process In new and/or prototype tooling
- Record all settings
- Make recommendations
Housekeeping
- Assist molding supervisor to make sure the molding and associated areas are kept clean
- Machines to be kept clean
- Floor swept and oil leaks mopped
- Cardboard compacted
- Garbage emptied
- Scrap parts ground
Administrative Duties
- Assist supervisors with the following administrative duties:
- Daily Production Reports
- Daily Log
- Downtime Reports
- Accident Reports
Adherence to Company Policies and Regulations
- Process Technicians are responsible to set a good example to all employees by following and enforcing the policies and regulations as stated in the Mold Masters Employee Handbook, which includes but not limited to:
- Code of conduct
- Shop safety rules
- Attendance and tardiness
- harassment policy
Process Technicians are responsible to know and follow all TS-16949 and ISO-
14001 policies and procedures.
