Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary responsibilities of the Mold Set Up/Process Technician are to set-up and run injection molding machines and equipment for the efficient production of plastic molded components. Monitor equipment and perform basic level troubleshooting to ensure effective set up operations and efficient production.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

• Remove and install molds in plastic injection molding machines.
• Set up machines for continuous production by positioning and aligning mold, connecting water, hydraulics, and air feeds as required.
• Adjust machine control settings to prescribed setup for the part.
• Shut down molding machines by performing proper lockout procedures, purging material, removing die from machine, etc.
• Complete required documentation such as tool change reports and production logs accurately and in a timely manner.
• Work toward continuous improvement of all mold change and machine set up procedures.
• Performs continuous housekeeping activities for mold setting and removal so that work environment is pristine condition, tool and equipment cleaned and stored properly and all damage and/or repairs needed reported properly.
• Actively promotes safe operations on each assigned mold change; responsible for the safety of all co-workers working with the mold set.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 1 year experience changing molds
• Basic understanding of Injection Molding Process
• Material Handling Experience
• Press shut-down and start-up experience
• Understanding of defects related to Injection Molding
• Understanding of Automation used in Injection Molding
• Ability to set-up auxiliary equipment related to Injection Molding
• Ability to set-up press side secondary equipment
• Experience using overhead cranes, portable gantries, powered pallet jacks and fork lift
