Process Technician – Plastic Injection Molding

Kentwood, MI

2nd Shift: 3pm-11:30pm Monday-Friday

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Technician to support plastic injection molding operations. This role is responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing molding processes to ensure consistent quality, efficiency, and production output.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, start up, and optimize injection molding machines and processes
• Perform mold changes and verify proper tooling setup
• Adjust molding parameters including temperatures, pressures, cycle times, and material flow
• Troubleshoot molding defects such as short shots, flash, sink marks, warpage, and cosmetic defects
• Conduct first-piece approvals and support in-process inspections
• Monitor machines to maintain stable, repeatable production
• Document process settings, changes, and troubleshooting actions
• Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and tooling teams to resolve production issues
• Assist with preventive maintenance and mold cleaning
• Follow all safety policies, including LOTO and OSHA requirements

Qualifications:

• Plastic injection molding process technician experience
• Strong understanding of molding processes, materials, and machine parameters
• Mold setup and change experience
• Ability to troubleshoot quality and process issues
• Ability to read blueprints, prints, and work instructions
• Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
• Scientific molding knowledge

Experience:

• Experience with presses such as Husky, Engel, Arburg, Milacron, or similar
• Experience with robots, hot runners, and auxiliary equipment
